Employers CAN legally force workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19


But most are likely to make the shot optional instead to avoid legal pushback, employment lawyers say

  • Health officials predict the first round of coronavirus vaccines will be available as soon as next month
  • The prospect has raised questions about whether the vaccine will be made mandatory at the workplace
  • Legally, employers are allowed to impose mandatory vaccination programs 
  • Doing so however, will likely subject them to objections from employees 
  • Legal experts say most employers won’t implement such programs to avoid legal ramifications 
  • CDC Director Dr Robert Redfield on Tuesday said he sees the first doses being rolled out the second week of December
